Seeing Differently

One of the very first things I fell in love with when it came to photography, was seeing things differently. It could be as simple as seeing something from a different angle, seeing something with a shallow depth of field, from up close or from far away and compressed, there's 1000's of ways to explain what I mean.

This photo set spans from the first time I started playing around with photography (late 2021), all the way through to just a couple weeks ago. You'll see photos that are captured from many different sessions of street photography, family events, hikes and travel vacations, car shows, graffiti events, pin striping classes, airplane rides and racing events. I don't really have a specific "thing" that I do, but the photos that I picked out from all these different occasions, I picked out for the same reason. They caught my eye for one reason or another.

I hope that as you browse through this photo set, and other photo sets to come, you find yourself being captured in the photos, looking to see if you missed anything or staring at a photo to try and figure out what something might be. I don't expect that everyone will find themselves swept away with every photo I make, and there may even be some that don't like any of the photos I create at all. But that's ok.

This is still just the beginning for me, and there's so much more to come. Thank you for taking a look as always.

Midnight Photography

This is hands down one of my favorite styles of photography to capture, dark blacks making any bit of light or color pop and highlight what it is you want the viewer to see. The calmness, emptiness, and beauty that comes from the dark has always intrigued me, called to me almost. I’ve been a “night owl” for most of my life, so there was no surprise that when I picked up a camera, the first thing I set out to go do was walk around town taking photos at 2am. Not realizing that night time low light photography can be one of the most difficult things to start out doing as a beginner photographer. I honestly never seem to get enough though, no matter where I go, big city or small town, I always seem to try and find something to capture in the middle of the night. If I had to only choose one style of photography for the rest of my life, I’d have no hesitation in picking Midnight Photography, and no regrets in that decision either.

The photos in this post are from the 1st to the most recent Midnight Photography sessions I been on. I’ve walked around downtown areas small and large, in a little under a foot of snow and during warm summer nights, getting absolutely soaking wet at times, but never once caring too much because of how much fun I was having. These are the photos that started not just my love for “Midnight Photography”, but my love for photography as a whole. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do going out and capturing them, and thanks once again for giving them a look.
